WHY WE NEED MORE PRO-AMERICA MOVIES AGAIN | YOUNG WASHINGTON

"It's like Mel Gibson's The Patriot, but less "Hollywood."" - Me I was listening to an Asmongold podcast a while back when he made a statement about George Washington being a "fucking badass who sailed across a river and murdered a bunch of British dudes in their sleep!" Paraphrasing.  My father and I went to see a movie called The Great Awakening about a man named George Whitfield who was a lesser-known figure that helped shape American history. As we left the theater, I told my father that it would be nice to see more movies about our founding fathers, like George Washington, citing Asmongold's "he was a fucking badass" statement.  You can imagine how delightfully surprised I was when we both went to see Disclosure Day a few months later, and in the hallway of the movie theater, I saw a poster for a movie called Young Washington . I pointed at the poster and told my dad, I was just talking about this! So we caught an early screen...

Pop Punk Radio Halloween Movie Fest 2014: #1 - Cube (1997) - 90's Category

October is here and it is one of my favorite months of the year for a few reasons. Football is back, Baseball is in playoffs and the NHL season is just around the corner. Last but not least, October is the season of Halloween, and at our house we take it seriously!

This year we have decided to celebrate Halloween by compiling a list of Halloween movies based on different categories and then taking turns showing them to each other. Our categories include 80's, 90's, Modern, Vintage, Bloody/Gory, Spooky Fun, Slasher, Zombie, Vampire, Monster, Sequel, TV Shows and anything else we think of along the way.

We kicked things off a day early on Sept 30th and since it wasn't quite October yet, I wanted to start with a solid horror/suspense movie that doesn't fit the stereotypical "Halloween" theme of monsters, zombies, vampires etc...

Enter Cube. A film from 1997 that falls into our "90s" category.

Basically, a few people wake up inside one of many MANY rooms in a giant cube. They must find their way out while discovering and avoiding a variety of deadly traps. Meanwhile, each character struggles with the mystery of who put them there and why they were specifically chosen.

If you are unfamiliar with this movie, think of it as part Saw II or the beginning of the first Resident Evil movie. Both of which were partially inspired by this film. If you haven't seen any of those films either, go do it. But watch Cube first.
