Why on Earth would any young man decide to watch programming that wasn't made for him, or by people like him, or by people who even like him?

I grew up watching Ellen Ripley kick Alien ass. When the movie was first released, you didn't even know Ellen was going to be the main character until the Captain of the ship gets killed near the third act of the film. She ends up being the only one who survives the first film, defeating the alien in the process.

In Aliens, we watch a bunch of badass macho marines who are cocky and full of ego get absolutely destroyed by the Aliens, turning the badass marines into a pile of frightened children. Ellen Ripley not only busts in and saves them from the alien hive, but she ends up being the one to lead and teach those marines how to fight the aliens.

Now that is how you write a solid character arc. We watch our protagonist grow from being an absolute nobody, someone we can all relate with, to becoming a fucking badass who handles the shitty cards life has dealt them and somehow manages to come out on top.

Ellen Ripley wasn't just "born badass' and we are all supposed to accept it. The men in her films are indeed competent, not a bunch of incompetent, moron characters written by a total retard missing half of their brain. They don't fail because they are retards that need to be saved by the only smart person in the movie (a woman.) No! They fail because they come up against a force none of them has ever witnessed before. It catches them off guard. Ellen Ripley is the only one who survives the first movie with enough knowledge to take on a swarm of them in the next film.

We believe Ellen is a badass because we watch her go through the "hero's journey." Not because some millennial woman working in Hollywood somewhere said "she's badass because I said so and you better believe it, only the white man been keeping her down!" HAH!

This is why your movies keep flopping. Hey, if you wanna go see a movie with a trans-bait gender-queer as a main character, that's all on you. But don't act so fucking surprised when the rest of the world doesn't give a flying fuck.

PS... if you think I write these foul-mouthed articles while steaming at the ears and bellowing fire from my belly, you are only 10% accurate.
