WEEKS 4 & 5 SUMMARY (FANTASY FOOTBALL)

Ok so Pop Punk Radio Show is back this week but I've kind of enjoyed sharing my fantasy football stories. I haven't been this stoked on football season since... ever. I find myself quoting AVGN but in a positive way. So let's catch up on what happened in weeks 4 and 5.

Week Four Summary

Jamaican Bobsled lost a heart-breaker to the team with the Tom Delonge logo. It as partly due to the fact that the opponent had the deadly combination of Kansas City's QB Patrick Mahomes and WR Tyreek Hill, a man with the distinction of having a player portrait that looks like one of those vintage fuzzy characters that you knock down with balls at a carnival. Then again, who am I to judge? He's a multi-million dollar athlete headed for the NFL Hall-of-Fame and I'm just a guy writing dumb jokes on a website that pretends to be a radio station.

The other part of the loss was due to the fact that I ignored my own advice by over-thinking my roster and dropping a player who would have won me the game. I dropped Tampa Bay's Kicker Ryan Succop who had only scored 7-6-6 points through the first 3 weeks. I was worried that Tampa Bay's offense was too good and that their kicker would mostly be kicking a single extra point after touchdowns, rather than being needed to kick field goals (worth 3-5 points) when the team is unable to reach the end-zone. I picked up Denver's Brandon McManus who had a much more appealing spread of 9-13-16. This turned out to be a terrible move because McManus scored only 1 point in Week 4 while Ryan Succop scored 15.

On the other hand, the score was only that close because I had made the wise move of picking up Buffalo's Defense who was surprisingly available, and who also scored the highest point total of all Defenses in Week 4 with 23 points. In any case, one good move was off-set by a bad move and Jamaican Bobsled fell to a 1-3 record.

Thrillho, on the other-hand, lived up to their name by squeaking out a 1 point victory despite the fact that I also replaced my kicker with Brandon McManus on this team as well. On top of that, I also made the lousy choice of selecting Cincinnati's Defense (Buffalo was unavailable in this league) who only scored 1 point against Jacksonville. Deebo Samuel helped to rescue me by over-performing with a 32 point game. Thrillho remains undefeated through the first 4 weeks.

Buffalo's Defense was also unavailable to help Dick Fiddler win in week 4. I went with Cincinnati in this league as well and lost by 15 points. On the bright side, I didn't drop my kicker for McManus a third time.

Weekly Score: 1 Win - 2 Losses

Overall Season Score: 7 Wins - 5 Losses

Week 5

Week 5 went much better than the previous week. I had a weekly score of 2 Wins - 1 Loss, bringing my overall season score to 9 Wins - 6 Losses.

Dick Fiddler lost for the second week in a row, bringing their record to 2-3-0 and falling to 8th place out of 10 teams. However, all hope is not lost, because the bottom 6 teams all share the same record. The second through fourth place teams all share a record of 3-2-0. So things are still very tight among the entire league. Anything can happen.

Jamiacan Bobsled redeemed themselves in spectacular fashion by annihilating their Week 5 opponent 160-120. 8 of my players scored double digit point totals, so it was a win by committee. However, WR Ja'Marr Chase, WR DK Metcalf, and RB Derrick Henry were my biggest contributors. If I had used Buffalo's Defense instead of Arizona, I would've had all 9 positions with double digit point totals. However, I went with Arizona in this league as I felt they had a favorable match-up against San Francisco's Rookie QB Trey Lance. In any case, Jamaican Bobsled climbs to 5th place, one spot back from a playoff position. However, there is still a lot of football to be played.

Thrillho once again pulled out a thrilling victory on Monday night of Week 5. My opponent's players were all done playing by the end of Sunday night's games and held a 15 point lead. However, I still had two players remaining for Monday night's game. This include Indianapolis Colts' Kicker Rodrigo Blankenship who was-on-and-off all night with some kind of injury.

I tuned to Monday nights game between Indianapolis and Baltimore in just in time to see an Indy kicker miss a field goal. I was calling the guy on my screen an idiot but thankfully the other team was off-sides, so they got to try again. It also turned out that the guy who missed the field goal wasn't even my kicker, it was the team's punter for some reason. But Rodrigo came out and kicked the second attempt and made it. So I got 3 points and was happy. I'm still losing the fantasy match-up, but I'm catching up. I just need Rodrigo to kick a few more points for me and I'm all set. However, Rodrigo would miss two more attempts and basically lose the game for Indy. He also might have lost the game for myself, if not for the fact that I had a second player involved in the game.

Baltimore's TE Mark Andrews end up going on a tear at the end of the game, scoring two touchdown along with dual two-point conversions, giving him 36 fantasy points and helping Thrillho to an easy victory despite all of the drama Rodrigo put me through earlier in the game. Thrillho wins with a score of 170-145 and remains undefeated at 5-0-0.

Weekly Score: 2 Wins - 1 Loss

Overall Season Score: 9 Wins - 6 Losses

Season Prediction

Playoffs are still a possibility in all 3 leagues. Although some teams have an easier path than others. Jamaican Bobsled has also climbed in to 4th in the Power Rankings and are projected to finish in the 4th and final playoff spot at the end of the season. Not bad for a team that was projected to finish dead last following the league draft. "Some people say, you know 'dem can't believe, Jamaica we have a bobsled team!"
