WEEK 3 UPDATE

Sorry folks. No Pop Punk Radio Show playlist this week either. September is the month that wasn't meant to be. People are distracted by going back to work or school after a Summer vacation and the month tends to be a dud overall for releasing music. I'm also just not feeling it this month either. I'm more interested in pursuing other interests at the moment. One of which includes a return to an old favorite video game with Diablo 2: Resurrected. The other is fantasy football, which just wrapped up it's third week.

Week Three Summary

After the third week of games, my 3 teams (I have 3 teams in 3 different leagues) swept the competition 3-0 for a combined season record of 6-3-0. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Jamaican Bobsled absolutely smashed the first place opponent in their league with a score of 144-88. JB was led by a brilliant effort from Matt Stafford (my favorite modern day QB, btw) as the LA Rams took down the defending Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

I've never been much of a Rams fan but Matt Stafford helped me to a Fantasy Football Championship in 2016 when he and Megatron were tearing things up for the Detroit Lions. He has remained one of my favorite players ever since. When he got traded to LA during the off-season he instantly became a target in each of my league drafts. The Rams look good this year. Super Bowl good? Perhaps.

JB's opponent flopped pretty hard when the #1 draft pick, Christian McCaffrey, went down with an injury in Thursday night's game. Cooper Kupp and Kyler Murray were not enough to rescue him from dismal efforts from the rest of his roster. Not when JB had 6 out of 10 players perform much better than their projections. JB climbs to 7th place while CornOnThePod remain in first. However, if the league were ranked by points, JB would be in second place behind the team they just annihilated. The season is just getting started.

Next week, Jamaican Bobsled takes on You'll Never Get This who have Tom DeLonge as their team logo with the deadly combo of Kansas City's Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill on their roster. This should be fun!

Dick Fiddler won their match-up 124-102 thanks to a 25 point night from Green Bay's WR1 Davante Adams during Sunday Night Football. Dick Fiddler sits in the fourth and final playoff position, although playoffs are still over two months away.

Thrillho continues it's undefeated streak and currently sits in second place behind the only other undefeated team in that league. Although Thrillho has also had the least amount of points scored against, so they are likely to face some stiffer competition in the coming weeks.

Key Moves

Ok, so what was my strategy? How did I go 3-0-0 this week? Well, I adopted the opposite strategy from the previous week. Previously, I had gone to waivers to swap out a few backup players on my roster. This week, I decided to sit pat and trust in the players I had drafted.

I did swap Matt Stafford in for Dak Prescott based on their respective match-ups and figured the Rams (Matt Stafford) and Buccs might go in to a shootout while Philly might be a tough defensive test for the Cowboys (Dak Prescott). This turned out to be correct, as Stafford gained nearly 30 points while Prescott only had 20.

However, I did make one roster move on all three of my teams which turned out to be big. I picked up Arizona's defense while salivating over their match-up against a rookie quarterback in Jacksonville's Trevor Lawrence, who has thrown at least two interceptions in each of his first three games this season. As soon as I heard a sportscaster point out he had two interceptions in two games, I scrambled to add their next opponent. This turned out to be a big move as Lawrence continued the trend by sending two balls to the Arizona Cardinals' defense, one of which got returned for a touchdown. A 21 point effort from a team defense will go a long way to giving your fantasy team a boost.

Season Prediction

I might do better than I thought but I also know better than to get too confident this early in the season. It doesn't take more than a handful of losses to ruin a team's playoff hopes and some of my teams are on thin ice already. Can lightning run on ice? Jamaican Bobsled would say, "Yes!"
